Andy Bauer comes from West Central Ohio where he was raised on a grain and livestock farm. This is where his interest in grain and grain safety began. After college he went to work for Champaign Landmark, now Heritage Cooperative, where he worked in commercial grain. He retired from Heritage Cooperative after 29+ years, 23 of those years he worked as grain department manager in three different locations. Bauer was also instrumental in starting a grain rescue team at Champaign Landmark. He would also assist area fire departments with rescue/recovery at grain bin accidents. In 2008, Bauer and two other men, designed and started teaching Grain Bin Rescue for The Ohio State University, Ohio Bureau of Workmen’s Compensation and Ohio Farm Bureau. Bauer joined the Ohio Fire Academy in 2013 holding the position of fire training officer teaching Grain Bin Rescue Awareness classes across Ohio.
