LeRoy Smith is a veteran of more than 30 years in the fire service, including over 22 years with the Prince George’s County, MD, Fire Department, the majority of that time in the Emergency Operations Command. Smith led the Training and Leadership Division, Hazardous Materials and Special Operations Teams, Emergency Management, and Special Events Teams while in Prince George’s County – additionally he served as operations section chief and planning section chief for the National Capital Region Type II Incident Management Team. Smith retired from Prince George’s County as an assistant fire chief in 2010 to serve as deputy fire chief of Operations, Training, and Safety of the Baltimore Washington International Airport Fire Department. Smith held that position until 2012 when he was selected to become the fire chief of the Holly Springs Fire Rescue Department, a position he still holds today. Smith has a bachelor's degree from Waldorf College in fire service administration, a master's degree from John's Hopkins University in organizational leadership, is a certified Chief Fire Officer, and a Nationally Certified Fire Officer IV.
