John R. Brophy, MSHS, BA, FACPE, is a 38-year veteran of the fire service. He is a captain (ret) from the Saginaw Township, MI, Fire Department. Brophy is an IFSAC Level II Instructor and was recognized as Michigan’s Eastern Region Fire Instructor of the Year in 2018. He has developed and presented a variety of fire, EMS and leadership topics at the local, state and national level including Firehouse Expo and the Michigan Fire Service Instructors’ Conference. He holds a master’s degree from George Washington University and is the author of multiple books and articles on a variety of leadership topics.
