Everything that happens immediately after a line-of-duty death (LODD) affects the way the family, the department, and the community recover from the loss. Lack of resources and planning often adds to the confusion and pain. This class will provide an overview of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s Local Assistance State Team (LAST) concept. The primary objective of LAST is to provide assistance and comfort to the family and department after an LODD and to help with filing for federal, state and local benefits. The Ohio LAST team coordinator will discuss their state team. The Public Safety Officer Benefit program also will be examined.
