Greg Lash retired as a 40-year veteran and captain with the Columbus Division of Fire. He was assigned to Ladder 8 and Rescue 2 as a firefighter and became was then assigned to Ladder 1 for 20 years where he became the House Captain of Station 1. Lash serves as an instructor with the Ohio Fire Academy, Bowling Green State University State Fire School as well as Columbus training Academy. He is recognized as an expert in high-rise, elevator, saw and truck company tactics. He authored Columbus' first rescue operations manual. During his career he received three Battalion Chief Commendations, two Distinguished Service Awards, two Fire Service Awards of Merit, The Box 15 Max Haverman Badge of Honor Award and the Ohio Fire Educator Lifetime Achievement Award.
