Fire Apparatus Mechanic
Ken Wagner has been with the FDNY for more than 34 years and a member of the Pleasantville, NY, Volunteer Fire Department for 38 years. He has been an automotive truck mechanic since 1976 and a fire apparatus mechanic since 1979. Wagner served nine years in the Technical Services Division/Apparatus Design Unit of FDNY, where he was responsible for performing survey needs analysis for apparatus and new mobile equipment. During the aftermath of 9/11, Wagner worked around the clock to rebuild the decimated FDNY fleet, including approximately 140 pieces of apparatus, ranging from pumpers and aerial apparatus to a number of special units.
