Compartment Fire Behavior - Bringing the Science to the Streets

Continued education in the area of fire behavior is critical for the continued education of firefighters, fire instructors, fire officials and fire investigators. Being able to determine compartment fire behavior from the clues given upon arrival is a necessity for safety and efficiency on the fireground. Additionally, the fire instructor is responsible for delivering up-to-date factual data regarding modern fire behavior to not only the new recruit, but for the seasoned veteran and fire officer. Moreover, being able to determine cause and origin for the incident is a responsibility of the fire investigator, which requires continued education according to NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033 in fire behavior and thermodynamics. This course is designed to update and educate today's responder on modern compartment fire behavior and how to apply current strategy and tactics on-scene. The course will also include scientific demonstrations with live fire props, which will be built and provided by the instructors.
