CANCELLED: Creating Effective and Functional Firefighter Workout Programs
Description

Firefighters, EMTs, and medics (fire rescue athletes) work in very uncertain situations and circumstances and must physically be ready for almost anything. As a trainer working with fire rescue athletes, this "ready for everything" mantra creates some challenges. The purpose of this seminar is to give attendees the background and education to effectively promote performance improvement, injury reduction, and career longevity through effective fitness. This is a pre-conference seminar and workshop that reviews the challenges of the modern firefighter's “playing field” and movement patterns and assesses the essential workout components that will help improve performance and reduce injuries. Attendees will review the essential components of an effective fire rescue athlete workout program and learn how to create workout calendars to adequately meet the high physical demands of the job. The seminar will also teach creative and effective ways to create daily workouts for members of their department and crew. Attendees will have the opportunity to create programming with other attendees based on instructor lead scenarios. This seminar is approved by ACE and other training organizations for CECs.
