Michael Anderson began in the fire service in 1998 and has been employed with Travis Co. ESD#2- Pflugerville Fire Department since 2000. He currently holds the rank of deputy assistant chief. As a fire service instructor, he specializes in Incident Command and driver operator classes. Anderson has a master’s degree in Public Affairs from the University of Texas- Rio Grande Valley and holds Instructor III and Fire Officer IV certifications. He completed the NFA Managing Officer program in 2019 and holds Fire Officer Designation through CPSE. He serves on the NFPA 1700 Technical Committee. Anderson has been a NFFF CTBS instructor since the first Texas train the trainer in 2007. He currently serves as the Region 6 Advocate for the NFFF Advocate program, covering FEMA region 6. Anderson previously served four years as the Western Advocate Manager managing the Advocate and training programs of the NFFF for FEMA regions 6-10. He continues hard work to have a lasting impact on firefighter safety and the reduction of line-of-duty deaths and injuries.
