Sid Newby is a retired battalion chief and 38-year veteran of the Wichita, KS, Fire Department. He served as an engine company captain for 16 years. Newby is a nationally certified fire service officer and instructor. He holds a BA in education from Wichita State University. Newby lectures nationally on various fire/rescue topics. He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.
