speaker photoBill Delaney has been a member of the fire service for over 27 years; spent 17 years as a career firefighter with the City of Fairfax, VA Fire & Rescue and two years prior to that as a volunteer firefighter with Burke, VA VFD. Delaney received the City Of Fairfax Firefighter of the Year award in 1997 for his efforts in the fire and injury prevention arena. He was hired by Montgomery Count, MD Fire & Rescue over nine years ago to manage the department's fire and injury prevention programs and for the last three years has developed, and managed, the department's social media sites. In the Washington, DC Metro area, Bill is considered a leader in the public safety social media field. He developed the creative concept and composed the majority of the grant submission for department's FEMA Fire Act Grant worth $748,000 - largest ever awarded to a fire department in Fire Prevention in the US at that time. Bill is a nationally recognized speaker and currently chairs the Washington DC Metro Area Council of Governments Life Safety Educators section. He has attended the National Fire Academy as well as the Emergency Management Institute receiving certificates in fire and injury prevention programs as well as emergency operations.
