| Fred LaFemina Battalion Chief, Rescue Operations, FDNY FEMA/USAR Task Force Leader NY-TF1  Fred LaFemina has been the commander of this division since November 2008. Prior to that he was the Battalion Commander assigned to the Rescue Operations Battalion. He was the Captain of two special units, prior to 9/11/2001 he was the company commander of Sq-270 in South Queens and after 9/11 he was assigned to command Rescue Company 1 in Manhattan. As a lieutenant he served in E-248 in Brooklyn and Rescue Company 4 in Queens and as the director of the Technical Rescue School at the Division of Training. As a firefighter he worked in E-318, L-166 and Squad Company 1, all located in Brooklyn. Chief LaFemina is presently in his 26th year in the FDNY. Chief LaFemina is also a member of NY-TF1, US&R Team as the Task Force Leader and has deployed to many incidents throughout his career. He is assigned to DHS/FEMA??s Incident Support Team (White) as the Operations Section Chief. He has written several publications on fire and technical rescue operations and lectures frequently throughout the country on these topics.
