A FREE class for City Officials and Chief Officers!
A Basic Understanding of the Fire Service for Public and Elected Officials, taking place on Thursday from noon-4:00 PM, is a multi-part program that explains many of the required and mandated items needed to make a department tick. The class will include a tour of the exhibit floor so officials can see the equipment and apparatus firsthand. Richard Blatus, Battalion Chief, Battalion 15, FDNY Richard J. Blatus is a twenty-eight year veteran of the fire service currently assigned to Battalion 15 in the Bronx. A strong proponent of training, Chief Blatus has served as both a regional and national instructor/lecturer for many of the fire service trade publications and has participated in numerous conferences. He is also an adjunct instructor at the FDNY Bureau of Training for the Battalion Chiefs Command Course and the Captains Development Program. His formal education includes a Masters Degree in Homeland Security in addition to degrees in both Business and Municipal Fire Administration.
